Hunting & Skinny Dipping

This weekend I took part in a quickly deteriorating passtime, hunting. After two days in some of the most beautiful situations that I can possibly remember, I have got to say that we need to pass on this great tradition to our kids and start generating some excitement about it. It is just too good to let it go!
This morning I sat alongside the Colorado River as the sun came up. As the dawn began to break the smoke started to rise over the water. As it got lighter I was able to watch brook trout jumping out of the water to catch flies as ospreys soared overhead. I spent the afternoon watching a couple of bald eagles soaring over the inlet as they hunted for fish. If I hadn't been hunting, I would never have sat long enough or still enough to appreciate all of this!

Additionally, I was able to take time away from the stresses of life and really evaluate my life and put it in perspective to the larger picture. Conversations with God were great as well. I didn't get any elk this time but I am hard pressed to feel disappointed by the outcome of this weekend.

Lastly, I saw 15 people skinny dipping in the river I was next to as part of a photo shoot for "Skinny Dip" beer from New Belgium brewery. I already liked the beer, now I like it even more. Definitely the most interesting hunting experience of my life. And no, I did not get any of their phone numbers...
